Double or Single Bowl 1800mm Vanity

An 1800mm double vanity suits a bathroom where two people get ready at the same time. A single bowl 1800mm vanity suits one main user who wants bench space more than a second basin. Most of the 1800mm vanities in this collection are double bowl.

A double bowl 1800 vanity gives each person their own basin with bench space between them. On a single bowl model the bench runs long: the Estella single bowl leaves roughly 1.3 metres beside the basin. A second basin also needs its own waste and tap position, so check this with your plumber before you order.

Wall Hung or Freestanding 1800mm Vanity

A wall hung 1800mm vanity shows the floor underneath, so a long cabinet looks lighter and the floor is easier to clean. A freestanding 1800mm vanity sits on legs or a kickboard, hides floor plumbing and gives taller storage. About half of this collection is wall hung and half is freestanding.

• Cabinet height: the wall hung units in the models below are 390mm to 560mm high. The freestanding units are 845mm to 880mm high, so they hold more.
• Wall fixing: a wall hung 1800mm vanity is long and heavy once the top and basins go on. The Hera Elegant Oak listing calls for proper structural fixing, such as timber noggins or masonry, confirmed before the cabinet goes up.
• Legs or kickboard: the Noah freestanding range comes in a legs version and a kickboard version. The Polar listing says you can choose legs or a kickboard when you order.

1800mm Vanity Sizes in the Models Below

Most 1800mm vanity units in the models below measure 1780mm to 1800mm wide and 450mm to 500mm deep. Check the depth against your doorway and walkway, and check the height against your window sill and power points.

The Hera Elegant Oak listing gives a width of 1780mm. The Avalon is 500mm deep. If the wall is shorter than 1800mm, compare our 1200mm vanities.

1800mm Vanity Materials: PVC, MDF or Plywood

An 1800mm vanity in this collection is built from one of three materials: PVC, MDF or plywood. PVC is the choice for a bathroom with heavy splashing or poor ventilation, because the board does not swell when it gets wet.

• PVC: Estella, Artis, Avalon, Polar and the gloss white Scandinavia. The Artis listing says the cabinet is PVC throughout, with no MDF or particleboard core. See more in our waterproof vanities.
• MDF: Noah (high gloss polyurethane finish), Hera (moisture-resistant MDF) and the Rhea wall hung (thermolaminated MDF).
• Plywood: the Scandinavia in Classic Oak and Walnut uses water-resistant plywood with a woodgrain finish.

Tops, Basins and Taps for an 1800mm Vanity

Most 1800mm vanities in this collection are sold as a cabinet, and you choose the top when you order. The top decides the basin type and the number of tap holes, so choose the top and the tap together.

• Noah: Monaco acrylic (poly) top with 1 tap hole, 3 tap holes or no tap hole, depending on the model. The listing says the top is custom made and takes 5 to 7 days.
• Polar: Carrara-look or pure white stone top, usually ready in 3 to 5 days.
• Hera: cabinet only, ceramic top, or a 15mm stone top in Blank White, Carrara White or Black.
• Artis, Estella and Avalon: supplied as a cabinet. The Avalon listing recommends an above counter basin.

Which 1800mm Vanity Should You Choose?

• If two people use the bathroom at the same time, choose a double bowl 1800mm vanity such as the Noah double bowl freestanding vanity.
• If you want bench space more than a second basin, choose a single bowl model such as the Estella or Noah.
• If your wall cannot take a heavy load, or your plumbing comes up through the floor, choose a freestanding 1800mm vanity.
• If the vanity sits close to an open shower, choose a PVC model.
• If you want a cabinet with no doors, choose a model with drawers only, such as the Hera, Artis or Estella, or browse our drawer vanities.
