Semi Recessed Vanities

A semi recessed vanity has a basin top that sits partly into the cabinet and extends past its front edge, so the cabinet body sits further back from where you stand. Our semi recessed vanity units come in 450, 550, 650, 750 and 900mm widths, all in gloss white with a high-gloss ceramic top, one tap hole and legs. The 900mm model adds three drawers beside a door. For more compact options, compare our ensuite and slimline vanities, browse all freestanding vanities, or see more gloss white vanities in other styles.

Is a Semi Recessed Vanity Right for Your Bathroom?

A semi recessed vanity works best in a small bathroom, ensuite or powder room where floor depth in front of the basin is the tight spot. All five of our models stand on legs and share one gloss white look, so the choice comes down to width, depth and storage. Before you order, run three checks.

  • Measure the clear floor space in front of the vanity, up to the nearest door swing, toilet or shower screen, and compare it with the listed depth of the model you like.
  • Check where your water and waste pipes come out. Every model sits on legs, so pipes that rise from the floor will show in the gap under the cabinet.
  • Plan the tap. The ceramic top has a single tap hole, so you need a one-hole basin mixer.

Semi Recessed Vanity Sizes from 450 to 900mm

A semi recessed vanity in our range is 860mm high at every width, and the listed depth grows with the width: 445mm up to 650mm wide, 485mm at 750mm and 495mm at 900mm. Each model page has the full specifications.

Which Semi Recessed Vanity Fits Your Bathroom?

  • If floor depth is your tightest measurement, choose the 450, 550 or 650mm model. They have the shallowest listed depth in the range.
  • If you have room for 750mm and prefer doors to drawers, choose the 750mm model, the widest two-door option.
  • If you want drawers, choose the 900mm model. Order Left Hand drawers for drawers on the left and the door on the right, or Right Hand drawers for the reverse.
  • If you want a wall hung vanity, this range will not suit, because all five models stand on legs.

What Comes with a Semi Recessed Vanity and Basin

A semi recessed vanity from this range arrives as a gloss white cabinet with its high gloss ceramic top, and the basin is part of that top. You do not need to buy a basin separately, and there is no benchtop to choose. The cabinet is MDF with a high gloss polyurethane finish and square handles.

You will still need:

We do not sell semi recessed basins on their own, so this range suits a new vanity rather than a basin swap on an existing cabinet. MDF handles everyday splashes, but water left standing against it can cause swelling, so wipe up spills and clean with a soft damp cloth rather than abrasive cleaners. Warranty terms are listed on each product page.

Semi Recessed Vanity Installation, Pickup and Delivery

A semi recessed vanity stands on legs, so we recommend fixing it to the wall to stop it tipping. Connecting water and waste is plumbing work, so a licensed plumber should do it.

In Sydney metro, we can install the 900mm model with our Small Vanity Installation for $329, and removing your old vanity adds $100. Prices can change slightly, so the amount at checkout applies. For the 450 to 750mm models, call 0480 746 325 to confirm installation.

All five models can be picked up free from a Sydney warehouse, and pickup needs no booking. To see one first, call 0480 746 325 to book a viewing in Sydney. Free metro delivery applies on orders over $2,000 in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra, over $2,500 in Brisbane and Adelaide, and over $3,200 in Perth.

The RJ Bathroom team in Sydney wrote this guide from the product listings in this collection. If a listing and this guide ever differ, the listing is correct, and you can call us to check before you order.

Semi Recessed Vanities FAQs

What does semi recessed vanity mean?

A semi recessed vanity has a ceramic basin top that sits partly inside the cabinet and partly in front of it. Because the bowl projects past the cabinet front, the cabinet can be shallower than the basin, which helps in a tight bathroom. Our semi recessed vanities come in 450, 550, 650, 750 and 900mm widths, all in gloss white on legs, with listed depths from 445mm to 495mm. If none of those widths fit your space, compare the full range of bathroom vanities.

Are semi recessed basins a good choice?

A semi recessed basin is a good choice when floor depth is tight and you want the basin and benchtop in one ceramic piece. Many of our other vanities sell the top separately, but each semi recessed model comes with its own. Two trade-offs are worth knowing. The basin front projects into the room, so measure your walkway first, and the top has one fixed tap hole, so you need a one-hole mixer. If you want a different basin shape, browse our basins to pair with a cabinet-only vanity.

Does a semi recessed vanity come with a basin, and what else do I need?

Yes. Each of our semi recessed vanities comes with its high gloss ceramic top, and the basin is part of that top, so you do not buy one separately. The tap, waste and mirror are not included. You will need a 32mm pop-up or plug waste with overflow, such as our 32/40mm pop up waste with overflow, plus a one-hole basin mixer. For storage above the basin, add a shaving cabinet. Connecting the water and waste is plumbing work, so a licensed plumber should do it.

Can I get a semi recessed wall hung vanity?

Not in this range. All five of our semi recessed vanities are freestanding models on legs, from 450 to 900mm wide. If you want a cabinet that sits off the floor, browse our wall hung vanities. If depth is the main problem, our ensuite and slimline vanities start from about 220mm deep. Any wall hung cabinet needs timber noggins or a masonry wall to carry its weight, so check what is behind your wall before you choose. Floor pipes will also show under a wall hung cabinet, so check where your plumbing comes out.

Can I pick up a semi recessed vanity in Sydney or have it installed?

Yes. All five semi recessed vanities can be picked up free from a Sydney warehouse, and you do not need to book a pickup. To see one before you buy, call 0480 746 325 to book a viewing. In Sydney metro we install the 900mm model with our Small Vanity Installation for $329, and removing your old vanity adds $100. Prices can change slightly, so the checkout amount applies. For the other widths, call the same number to confirm installation.
