Single or Double Bowl 1500mm Vanities

A 1500mm vanity gives a double bowl more elbow room and more bench between the basins than a 1200mm double. Choose a double bowl if two people get ready at the same time each morning. Choose a single bowl if one person uses the vanity at a time and you want a long run of clear bench beside the basin. Double bowl models slightly outnumber single bowl models in this range.

A double bowl 1500mm vanity still leaves useful bench between the basins. On the Hamilton double bowl, each tap set sits about 385mm in from the end of the top, so the middle of the bench stays clear for shared items.

Wall Hung or Freestanding 1500mm Vanities

A wall hung 1500mm vanity keeps the floor clear, which makes a long cabinet look lighter and the floor easier to mop. You also set the finished bench height when it is installed. A freestanding 1500mm vanity carries its weight on the floor, either on legs or on a closed kickboard.

  • Wall hung: floor stays clear and the bench height is set at installation. The cabinet and stone top need secure fixing to the wall. Compare more wall hung vanities in other widths.
  • Freestanding on legs: slim legs lift the cabinet so you can still clean underneath, as on the Scandinavia and the Noah legs model.
  • Freestanding with kickboard: a closed base with no gap to collect dust. The Noah kickboard model has one, and the Scandinavia can take an optional kickboard. See all freestanding vanities.

Measuring for a 1500mm Vanity Unit

A 1500mm vanity unit is not always exactly 1500mm wide. In the models below, cabinet widths run from 1480mm to 1500mm and depths from 450mm to 500mm, so measure both the wall and the walkway in front of it. Check the top as well, because a top can be slightly larger than the cabinet it sits on.

Noah (legs)Freestanding1500 × 465 × 845mm (listed size)
  • Measure the wall between finished surfaces, and allow for door swing, window trims and any shower screen.
  • Compare cabinet depth with the walkway in front, especially in a narrow ensuite.
  • Check where the water and waste points sit. A double bowl needs two of each.
  • For a wall hung model, confirm the wall can carry the cabinet plus a stone top.

Drawers or Doors in a 1500mm Vanity

A 1500mm vanity with all drawers is easier to organise, because you can see everything from above and split storage between two users. More than 25 models in this range are all-drawer designs, including the Hamilton and Fremantle Hampton shaker vanities and the Brooklyn timber vanities. Door-and-drawer layouts give taller space for bottles and cleaning products. The Scandinavia has two centre doors with two drawers on each side. The curved Ravello combines two centre drawers, a door on each side and a curved pull-out drawer at each end. Whichever layout you choose, check the listing for how the drawers clear the waste pipe.

Cabinet Materials in 1500mm Vanities

A 1500mm vanity in this range uses one of three cabinet materials: PVC, MDF or plywood. The material decides how the cabinet copes with bathroom moisture, and the warranty differs from model to model.

MaterialHow it handles moistureExamples in this range
PVCThe board itself does not absorb waterHamilton, Scandinavia and the fluted Artis
MDFFinished board; water damage is not covered on the models we checkedHera, Noah
PlywoodCross-laminated layers of real wood resist humidityRavello

If moisture is your main concern, start with our waterproof vanities. If you want a warm timber look, compare the oak vanities range. Warranty terms are listed on each product page.

Tops, Basins and Taps for a 1500mm Vanity

Many 1500mm vanities here are sold as a cabinet, with the top chosen as an option. Depending on the model, you can pick a ceramic top, a stone top with an undermount or above counter basin, or a solid surface top. Stone tops are drilled to order with no tap hole or a 10, 12 or 2 o'clock position, and custom-drilled tops cannot be returned for change of mind.

On the models we checked, mixers and pop-up wastes are sold separately. A double bowl needs two of each, so pick two matching basin mixers. To finish the wall above, our 1500mm shaving cabinets match the vanity width.

Pickup and Delivery for 1500mm Vanities

A 1500mm vanity is a large item, so pickup can save on freight. About 40% of this range, covering all Poseidon and Koti models, can be collected free from our Dandenong South (VIC) warehouse in Melbourne. Around ten models can be collected free from Rocklea (QLD) in Brisbane. Pickup from our Sydney warehouses is also free. To see a vanity before you buy, call 0480 746 325 to book a Sydney viewing by appointment. Free metro delivery applies over $2,000 in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra, over $2,500 in Brisbane and Adelaide, and over $3,200 in Perth.

Which 1500mm Vanity Should You Choose?

  • If two people get ready at the same time, choose a double bowl 1500mm vanity.
  • If one person uses the bathroom and wants bench space, choose a single bowl model such as the Eden or Artis.
  • If the room is narrow, choose a cabinet around 450mm to 460mm deep, such as Hera, Hamilton or Eden, over a 500mm-deep model.
  • If you want the floor clear and easy to mop, choose wall hung. If you prefer legs or a kickboard, choose freestanding.
  • If moisture is your main worry, choose a PVC or plywood cabinet.
  • If you have more wall to fill, compare 1800mm vanities. If 1500mm is tight once you allow for doors and walkways, compare 1200mm vanities or browse all vanities.

1500mm Vanity FAQs

What is the difference between a single and double bowl 1500mm vanity?

A double bowl 1500mm vanity gives two people their own basin and tap, so it suits a shared ensuite where mornings overlap. It needs two mixers, two wastes and two sets of plumbing connections, so allow for those in your budget. A single bowl 1500mm vanity gives one main user a long, clear bench, which suits a bathroom used by one person at a time. Both layouts come in wall hung and freestanding styles in this range. If you choose a double bowl, pick two matching basin mixers.

How much does a 1500mm vanity cost?

Our 1500mm vanities are currently listed from $689 to $1,975. The lowest prices are on freestanding Scandinavia models, and the highest are on curved plywood designs such as the Calvo. The listed price is usually the starting option, so check whether a top is included on the model you like. A stone top, basin, mixer and pop-up waste can add to the total, and a double bowl needs a second mixer and waste. All products are sold at trade prices. For a waterproof cabinet on a budget, compare our waterproof vanities.

What size is a 1500mm vanity?

A 1500mm vanity is about 1.5 metres wide, but the exact cabinet width varies slightly by model. In the models we checked, cabinet widths run from 1480mm to 1500mm and depths from 450mm to 500mm. Wall hung cabinets are about 470mm to 560mm high before the top, and you choose the mounting height. Some tops are slightly larger than the cabinet, so check the top size too. If 1500mm does not suit your wall, compare our 1200mm vanities or 1800mm vanities.

Should I choose a wall hung or freestanding 1500mm vanity?

Choose a wall hung 1500mm vanity if you want the floor clear and a long cabinet that looks lighter. You also set the bench height at installation, but the cabinet needs secure fixing to the wall. Choose a freestanding 1500mm vanity if you prefer a cabinet that stands on legs or a closed kickboard. About two thirds of our 1500mm range is wall hung, and the freestanding models include Hampton shaker, fluted and gloss white designs. Compare more options in wall hung vanities and freestanding vanities.

Does a 1500mm vanity come with a top and basin?

Many 1500mm vanities are sold as a cabinet, with the top added as an option. Depending on the model, you can choose a ceramic top, a stone top with an undermount or above counter basin, or a solid surface top. Stone tops are drilled to order with no tap hole or a 10, 12 or 2 o'clock position, and custom-drilled tops cannot be returned for change of mind. On the models we checked, mixers and pop-up wastes are sold separately. For a matching unit above the vanity, see our 1500mm shaving cabinets.
