750mm Shaving Cabinets

750mm is the width Australian bathrooms land on most often, which is why it is worth checking the cabinet as carefully as the vanity. A 750mm shaving cabinet gives you two doors and a full run of shelving without overhanging a 750mm bench. We stock it in PVC waterproof, timber look oak and plywood, with LED and non-LED versions. Hang it above a 750mm vanity, compare the narrower 600mm shaving cabinets or the wider 900mm shaving cabinets, and see every lit model in LED shaving cabinets.

750mm Shaving Cabinet FAQs

▸ Is a 750mm shaving cabinet too wide for a 600mm vanity?

It will overhang by 75mm each side, and whether that reads as a mistake or as a deliberate choice depends on the wall. If the vanity sits in an alcove or against a return wall, the overhang will look wrong because the eye has a straight edge to compare it against. On an open wall with clearance both sides it can look fine, and you gain a useful amount of shelf. Our general advice is to match widths unless you have a specific reason not to.

▸ What is the difference between PVC and timber look shaving cabinets?

PVC has no timber or particleboard core, so steam and standing water cannot swell it from the inside, which is the main reason it is used in wet areas. Our timber look range is a finish applied over a board or plywood carcass, so it gives you the grain without solid timber pricing, but it relies on the finish staying intact. Both are fine above a vanity in a normally ventilated bathroom. If the cabinet will sit close to a shower with no exhaust fan, choose PVC.

▸ Do 750mm shaving cabinets have soft close doors?

Most of the current range does, including the Ridgewood, Camden and Avola models, which all list soft close in their specifications. Some of the older entry level cabinets use standard hinges. Rather than assume, check the features list on the individual product page, because we state it where the model has it. Soft close matters more on a mirrored door than on a plain cupboard, because a slammed mirror door is how glass eventually cracks at the hinge side.

▸ How many shelves does a 750mm shaving cabinet have?

It varies by model and the number is listed on each product page. As a rule a 750mm cabinet is two doors over an internal cavity divided by one or two shelves per bay, which gives you three or four usable levels. The Hera, Riva and Eden Artis models add an open shelf underneath the cabinet, which is useful for a hand towel or a soap pump and is the detail worth looking for if your benchtop is short on free space.

▸ Which finishes do your 750mm shaving cabinets come in?

At 750mm you can choose matte white, matte black, gloss white, and a range of timber looks including Tas Oak, Black Oak, Elegant Oak, Prime Oak, Classic Oak, Coastal Oak, Stella Oak, Sandy Oak and Walnut Mocha Oak. Matte white and gloss white are the safe choices under mixed lighting. Matte black reads as a feature and works best when there is already black tapware in the room. Timber looks pair naturally with a timber or stone topped vanity.
